Don’t “just live with it,” take that next step to get help.

Make a deal with yourself.

Pelvic floor challenges impact everyone differently, these are 6 of the areas that I treat.

  • Sex and Intimacy

45% of women and 33% of men experience some type of sexual dysfunction, which may include:

    • inability to orgasm

    • pain with intercourse or orgasm

    • erectile dysfunction

    • hypersensitivity

It’s common to have tight muscles, decreased lubrication, and fragile tissues that can impact our sex lives. We also have to consider our mental health, environment, and our relationship with our partner. Taking all of these factors into account during treatment, we are able to improve sexual function and allow for a more satisfying and fulfilling sex life.

  • Pelvic Pain

    Pelvic pain can by:

    • hypermobility

    • trauma

    • psychological factors

    • endometriosis

    • and more

Often the solution to pelvic pain is more than just medication and a trip to the doctor. With techniques such as manual treatment, neuromuscular re-education, desensitization, and mobility we are able to calm the central nervous system and promote realignment of the pelvis to reduce pelvic pain and improve function.

  • Incontinence

Incontinence is advertised as a normal part of life but it’s not. Common types of incontinence are:

    • stress incontinence - you leak when you laugh, cough, or sneeze

    • urge incontinence - you leak when rushing to open your front door

    • overflow incontinence - your bladder gets too full and can’t hold everything in

Pelvic floor therapy can address the cause of incontinence with education, manual treatments, and promotion of lifestyle modifications.

  • Constipation

Constipation is a common problem, even for the healthiest people. Common causes are:

    • GI disorders (IBS, crohns, etc.)

    • poor diet and/or hydration

    • toileting habits

    • physical activity levels

    • central nervous system upregulation

With changes to diet, environmental modifications, management of pressure, and decreasing muscle spasms in the pelvis, we are able to manage constipation symptoms and reduce the amount of “bearing down” during bowel movements.

  • Pregnancy

Pregnancy comes with so much joy but also can be accompanied by pain, weakness, and other symptoms such as:

    • Lightning crotch

    • diastasis (separation of the abdominal muscles)

    • low back pain

    • incontinence/constipation

    • overuse injuries of the hand and arms

With modifications to your daily routine, the addition of external support, mobility exercises, and pressure management strategies we can reduce or eliminate symptoms during pregnancy and after delivery.

  • Postpartum

    Postpartum

The time after giving birth is one of the most challenging. I can help.

    • comfort strategies following a c-section or vaginal delivery.

    • positioning for feeding baby

    • aches and pains from delivery and postpartum

    • education about returning to physical activity

    • home modifications for ease of recovery

New parents are often left unsupported by doctors and without an understanding of the birthing person’s recovery process. I can help to support you in the days and weeks following delivery.
